Darcy Olsson, portrayed by Kizzy Edgell, is a recurring character in Heartstopper. They are best friends with Elle Argent, Aled Last, Isaac Henderson, Nick Nelson, Charlie Spring, Tao Xu, and Sahar Zahid, and is the girlfriend of Tara Jones.
Appearance
Darcy is short in stature, standing at 5'3", and has dyed bleach blonde hair cut below their chin that they sometimes tie up in a bun. In season 3 of the Netflix adaptation, they cut their hair into a mullet, with the help of their friends. They have tan skin, thick eyebrows, and a button nose. Darcy is usually seen wearing patterned Hawaiian button-up shirts, such as ghosts or flowers.
Personality
Darcy is extremely chaotic and extroverted, loving to make the people around them laugh, especially Tara. Prior to their and Tara's relationship, they were already out and confident with themself, but were patient with Tara's apprehensiveness. They are shown to be excited by just about everything, ecstatic to find another queer couple at their school when Nick reveals he's dating Charlie. Being a teenager, they can be somewhat reckless, sneaking in alcohol to Tara's birthday party, getting drunk, and vomiting uncontrollably. They seem to have learned their lesson when Charlie jokes about it during his 16th birthday party. Darcy's upbeat nature contradicts their poor home life, as their parents are extremely verbally abusive to their sexuality and personality. Because of this, they're often protective of their friends, comforting Elle when mentioning how she's unable to see her family in Egypt by saying she'd make a great grandmother to them, or when they reject Harry from Tara's birthday party for bullying Charlie.
